Parveen Kaur Tumber is a local mother and business owner actively engaged in the community. She has served as an attorney representing employees in disputes with their employers, including educators, for over a decade. In that respect, she has achieved the distinguished honor of being designated as a California Super Lawyer- Rising Star each year from 2013 through 2018.
Parveen grew up in an immigrant household where education was the highest priority. Her mother, a retired elementary school teacher with 43 years of service, emphasized the value of education from a young age. Prior to pursuing her law degree, Parveen served as an educator to adult students with special needs at Laney College in Oakland, California. She also served as a tutor for autistic children in immigrant communities internationally.
Throughout her career, Parveen has worked towards policies that improve the quality of living for working families. As a West Sacramento Planning Commissioner, she supported applicants that promote diversity, equal employment and job development, and community engagement. As an attorney, she continues to work to educate individuals on state and federal employment law and has represented individuals and organizations on a pro bono basis, including educators. She has testified on employment policies to the Senate Judiciary Committee and lobbies for workplace rights continuously. As an elected delegate to the California Democratic Party, Parveen has been tireless in her efforts to organize the community and build towards social and economic equality for all. She believes in working toward goodness and justice with the ultimate goal of leaving a better world for her daughters and future generations.
Parveen and her husband Amar have lived in West Sacramento since 2012. Their daughters attend preschool in the Southport area. The Tumbers are active members in the community and support local projects, including Bridgeway Play. Parveen is an active member of the West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce and previously served on the Ambassador committee. You will often catch her at Nugget with her family or at the park having a picnic with her girls, Rosleen and Aleena.
